Folio (427x286 mm). 1 engraved frontispiece portrait Charles-Nicolas Cochin after Jean-Baptiste Oudry - Dupuis, 4 titles with woodengraved vignettes, many woodengraved vignettes in the text, 275 finely engraved plates Aubert, Aveline, Bacquoy, Beauvois, Cochin and others after Oudry (all, partly some very occasional spotting).
Contemporary red calf, somewhat worn, corners somewhat bumped, gilt borders, gilt inner borders and edges of covers, richly gilt spines in seven compartments, all edges gilt. 3 textleaves with marginal tears. A few leaves with some minor marginal dampstaining. Old library annotation on first endpaper "Nr 54". 4 volumes.
Sander 1065, Cohen-Ricci 548-50. Second state with the word "Le leopard" written on the banner.
