A YAOZHOU CELADON GLAZED ´WAVES´ BOWL, with a flared rim surrounding the deep curving well, the interior carved with waves and a floral spray, the olive green glaze thinly applied on all surfaces except the foot pad, burnt warm cinnamon brown, with a thin foot rim around a convex foot, Northern Song dynasty, 11/12th century, diameter c. 13.7 cm

PROVENANCE:
From the collection of the Principal Sture Nydell (1891-1986) and his wife, Valborg Nydell (1905-2003). The bowl was purchased at an auction in 1962 at Sotheby´s, London, earlier in the collection of E S Wilkinson.
