A JAPANESE HARD-WOOD SHODANA CABINET WITH LACQUERED SHIBAYAMA PANELS, an arrangement of asymmetrical cupboards, sliding doors, open shelves and drawers, the center shelf with decorative stair steps from lower section, the panels decorated with black and gold lacquer, mother-of-pearl, semi precious stones and bone, depicting figures, birds, flowers and foliage creating decorative scenes influenced by nature, surmounted by two pitched pagoda roofs supported by phoenix birds, the base carved with a pair of twisted karashishi lions for legs and two confronting dragons at the center, Meiji period, c. 1890, c. 240 x 160 x 47 cm
